What is the educational content (curriculum) of Gakurin?

I understand that Gakurin also offers programs to learn about world religions, but what specific programs do you offer?

Gakurin offers lectures and training programs by lecturers from Japan and abroad through our global network. For details,please refer to the Global Network page.

I don’t speak English very well. Do I need to be proficient in English for education at Gakurin?

English proficiency is not necessarily required at Gakurin. If you wish, after entering the Gakurin, you can develop the ability to communicate with world religious leaders, experts and practitioners in various fields, using English as well as Japanese. The Honka and International Programs offer the opportunity to be taught by native English-speaking teachers, and Koju students can connect once a week with a native English-speaker living in New York to receive English language instruction.

I have limited knowledge of Buddhism and the teachings of the Lotus Sutra, can I still apply to Gakurin?

Full-scale study of Buddhism and the Lotus Sutra is conducted after entering the Gakurin. Specialized knowledge of Buddhism is not necessarily required, but basic knowledge of Buddhism as general knowledge is confirmed on a limited basis at the time of the entrance examination.

How is the exam to enter the academy administered?

In principle, the examination consists of an application document review, a written examination, and an interview; however, the content of the examination varies from program to program. For details, please contact the following Gakurin sections:

In what fields are Gakurin graduates active and engaged?

More than 2,400 alumni have left the Gakurin and are active in a variety of fields and positions, including business leaders working on the front lines of society, religious leaders working to build world peace, educators, and researchers.
